It’s a week of great music in the historic city, with First Coast Opera opening a new season and John Legend appearing on The Amp. But that’s not all: there is also a Greek Fest, a triathlon and a conference with a renowned artist. Music, food, exercise and art, what more could you ask for?
Greek Feast of St. Augustine to take away
Based at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, Greek Fest again offers contactless drive-thru food pickup and delivery from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. Pre-ordering can also be done online, and food items, including entrees, sides and pastries, are available per plate or whole pan.

An opera feast
First Coast Opera opens the 2021-22 season with “A Celebration of Food and Opera Snippets” which includes performances by local artists Lisa Lockhart, Brittany Fouché, Regina Torres and John Daugherty. The 6 p.m. event today takes place at the Jax Beach Brunch Haus, 610 3rd St. South, Jacksonville Beach, and includes dinner and show. Saturday’s performance and dinner will be at 6:00 p.m. at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, 5205 A1A South, St. Augustine.

John Legend ‘Bigger Love Tour 2021’
There aren’t enough accolades for singer-songwriter John Legend: multi-platinum artist; first African American to win Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards, including 11 Grammy Awards; star of “Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert” in 2018; philanthropist; judge on “The Voice”; and executive producer of series and films. He will give a concert starting at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday October 9 at the St. Augustine Amphitheater. The Amp is located at 1340A A1A South, St. Augustine. Play! Ponte Vedra Triathlon
Ready for a triathlon? This Olympic distance triathlon, duathlon and aquabike will take place at Mickler’s Landing Beach. The swimming will take place in the ocean, the panoramic bike course will take place in the GTM research reserve and the race will take place on Boulevard Ponte Vedra.

Artist talk: Michael Ray Charles
Contemporary American painter Michael Ray Charles has exhibited internationally as well as at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Austin Museum of Art and the Knox Art Gallery. According to the press release, “his work explores the African-American stereotypes of southern Antebellum” that endure in current culture, such as Aunt Jemima or Sambo. He will deliver his speech Thursday at 6 pm at the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum, 48 Sevilla St., St. Augustine.
