Dance Dance Dance. It’s twist time at Balletcenter Cebu!
Last month, the center, with all the pomp and perfection, put on two top-notch performances at SM Seaside City Cebu’s Centerstage. The 30-minute classic ballet “Paquita” starred Cheron Kishes Co and Khynloyd Genson. This number has charmed audiences around the world for generations, showcasing solo and soloist variations with classical purity.
We were also impatiently awaiting “Outcast” by Nicolas Pacana with Kissy Deanne Acar and Anthony Gabriel Retuya as soloists. Filipino experiences during World War II were highlighted; the show was a big hit and premiered in 2019.
Much of the repertoire was a young children’s matinee featuring 270 students aged three and up performing an eclectic mix of classical and popular music. The evening gala featured intermediate junior levels dancing to a mix of classical and jazz music.
There is much more. Stay tuned for Balletcenter’s 72nd season as it brings back the beloved complete ballet, “Peter Pan.” We’ll see each other there!
