PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The show must go on – even if he’s outside.

This week, the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater rolled out its mobile outdoor stage.

Since the start of the pandemic, the motto of the theater has been “Let’s keep dancing”, whether on Zoom or in masks, but now they are outside.

“We want to promote all the arts. The performing arts are what motivates and excites us. It’s time to pop the cork and let the energy flow, ”said Harris Ferris, Executive Director of the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater.

The Pittsburgh Ballet Theater is hosting an “open air” series on the Flagstaff Hill Lawn in Schenley Park.

Ferris says it took around 16 hours to build the stage.

There will be a variety of performances for everyone to enjoy, from ballet and West African dance to opera.

“By the time we’re done, there will be 22 different bands playing on stage. It was their second home when it comes to theater. The dances are exuberant. The audience is exuberant, ”Ferris said.

Organizers expect thousands of people to watch.

“It brings out the human spirit so much in people and that’s human history. Again and again, it’s told in new and beautiful ways. These artists have been training for so long to be able to display their talents and they are really looking forward to having an audience there – a live audience, ”Ferris said.

The performances will last until May 31.
