The Merola Opera Program Holds Its 2022 “Grand Finale” in Sf Saturday
The largest annual class of Merola Opera Program enrollees in the history of the prestigious apprenticeship program gathers on stage at the War Memorial Opera House on Saturday evening for the traditional “Grand Finale” concert that closes its summer festival . Thirty-one aspiring opera stars from around the world – singers, coaches, pianists and a young director – have prepared a program of arias and ensembles designed to showcase their burgeoning talents. The program’s conductor, Patrick Furrer, is a New York Metropolitan staff member. The repertoire will include pieces from “The Marriage of Figaro” by Mozart, “Don Pasquale” by Donizetti, “Madama Butterfly” by Puccini, “Doctor Atomic” by John Adams, “Falstaff” by Verdi and many more.
