The Opéra National de Bordeaux has announced its rich 2021-22 season. For the purposes of this article, we’ll only focus on vocal performances.

Here is the full slate.

Opera

A semi-staged version of “Meyerbeer”Robert Le Diable”Opens the season. The opera stars Erin Morley, Nicolas Courjal, Amina Edris, Nicolas Darmanin, Joel Allison, Paco Garcia and John Osborn in the title role. Marc Minkowski is directing a production by Luc Birraux.

Performance dates: September 20 – 25, 2021

A double bill from Poulenc ‘”The Human Voice“And d’Escaich”Organ pointWill present soprano Anne Catherine Gillet, baritone Jean Sébastien Bou and tenor Cyrille Dubois. Domingo Hindoyan directs a production by Olivier Py.

The opera is a co-production with the Théâtre des Champs Elysées, the Dijon Opera, the Saint-Etienne Opera and the Tours Opera.

Performance dates: October 4 – 10, 2021

Chez Lully and Molière “The Bourgeois GentlemanHighlights Sébastien Boudrot, Josiane Stoleru, Guillaume Laloux, Bénédicte Choisnet, Pauline Deshons, Jean-Claude Bolle-Reddat, Vincent Debost, Jérôme Deschamps and Aurélien Gabrielli. Thibault Noally directs a production by Jérôme Deschamps.

Performance dates: January 11 – 21, 2022

Michèle Losier plays Charlotte, Lionel Lhote plays Albert, Florie Valiquette sings Sophie and Benjamin Bernheim plays the title role of “Massenet”Werther. “Pierre Dumoussaud is directing a production by Romain Gilbert.

Performance dates: January 31 – February 12, 2022

“by DonizettiThe Elisir of loveWill have two castings, with Golda Schultz and Catherine Trottmann alternately in the role of Adina, and Kévin Amiel and Yu Shao alternately in the role of Nemorino. David Bizic and Dominic Sedgwick perform Belcore, while Giorgio Caoduro and Julien Véronèse perform Dulcamara. Nil Venditti directs a production by Adriano Sinivia.

Performance dates: April 1 – 10, 2022

Florian Sempey and Thomas Dolié sing Count Almaviva, and Ana Maria Labin plays Countess Almaviva in Ivan Alexander’s production of Mozart’s opera masterpiece.The Marriage of Figaro. “Angela Brower and Megan Marino play Susanna, while Robert Gleadow plays the title role. The cast will be completed by Miriam Albano, Paco Garcia, Ariana Venditelli, Manon Lamaison and Norman Patzke. Marc Minkowski directs.

Performance dates: May 20 – June 4, 2022

Alexandre Duhamel holds the title role of “Don Giovanni”Alongside Robert Gleadow in Leporello, Iulia Maria Dan in Donna Anna, Ariana Venditelli in Donna Elvira, James Ley in Don Ottavio, Leonard Bernad in Masetto and Angela Brower and Megan Marino in Zerlina. Marc Minkowski directs a production by Ivan Alexandre.

Performance dates: May 22 – June 5, 2022

“Così fan tutte»Ends the season. The opera stars Ana Maria Labin, Angela Brower, Megan Marino, James Ley, Robert Gleadow, Miriam Albano and Alexandre Duhamel. Marc Minkowski directs a production by Ivan Alexandre.

Performance dates: May 23 – June 6, 2022

The Jeune Académie Vocale d’Aquitaine performs Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 “Choral.“

The Choir of the Opéra National de Bordeaux performs works by Arvo Pärt alongside conductor Salvatore Caputo.

An interpretation of Bach “Life of christHighlights soprano Ying Fang, viola Sara Mingardo, tenors Julian Prégardien and Laurence Kilsby, baritone Huw Montague-Rendall and bass Christian Immler alongside Chorus Pygmalion and conductor Raphaël Pichon.

The Choir of the Opéra National de Bordeaux performs works by Fouilloux, Rabaud and Lesur.

Mezzo-soprano Lea Desandre and countertenor Iestyn Davies perform works by Handel alongside the Jupiter Ensemble and conductor Thomas Dunford.

Soprano Sabine Devieilhe performs works by Bach and Handel alongside the Pygmalion Choir and conductor Raphaël Pichon.

Soprano Diana Damrau sings music by Duparc, Schumann and Richard Strauss alongside pianist Maciej Pikulski.

Soprano Jessica Pratt and contralto Marie-Nicole Lemieux present arias from belcanto operas alongside conductor Roberto Gonzalez-Monjas.

Soprano Yae-Eun Seo and baritone Marc Scoffoni sing Verdi’s music.

Countertenor Philippe Jaroussky performs works by Dowland, Purcell, Mozart, Schubert, Ravel, Fauré, Britten and Granados.

Mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená sings the music of Brahms, Dvořák, Martinů, Mussorgsky and Bartók alongside pianist Ohad Ben Ari.

The Choir of the Opéra National de Bordeaux performs works by Liszt and Couson alongside pianist Maria Luisa Macellaro La Franca and conductor Salvatore Caputo.
