Regé-Jean Page talks about his “ insane journey ”, from the soap opera to “ Bridgerton ”
Actor Regé-Jean Page, who played Simon Bassett, The Duke of Hastings, has been recognized for his performance in the highly acclaimed series Bridgerton. However, the actor will not return in Bridgerton season 2 and fans are disheartened by the news. Besides his role in the highly acclaimed film, the actor has also taken part in numerous films and shows. Speaking of the same, Regé-Jean Page recently opened up about his ‘crazy journey’ since his first role in the BBC soap opera at Bridgerton.
Regé-Jean Page on his ‘crazy trip’ from his BBC soap opera to ‘Bridgerton’
In the last interview with Variety, Regé-Jean Page revealed that he had taken a “crazy trip” since his first role in the BBC soap opera. Waterloo Road on his US debut as Chicken George in the 2016 remake Roots, before the classically trained actor traded Shakespeare for Shondaland with ABC’s For the people and Bridgerton.
The actor added that he’s been in more Regency duels than he ever thought he would. He said he didn’t believe it was possible, and it’s his fault for not believing it and accepting responsibility for making it possible by what they do as actors. Page said he is happy to have taken some good first steps into what appears to be an ever-expanding pool of possibilities and hopes this trend continues.
Speaking of Bridgerton’s success, the actor said the quarantine downturns created the perfect storm for Bridgerton’s Success. He added that it was the right project, a lavish, sizzling romance released at the end of one of history’s most tumultuous years, just the kind of delectable tailoring and distraction the world needed. He also said that the special ingredient is the right actor.
About the release of Rege-Jean Page
During the interview, Rege-Jean Page revealed his reason for not returning for the upcoming season of the show. Rege-Jean admitted that he was aware his character would only have a “one-season arc.” He went on to say that when he spoke with the show’s producers before taking on the role, they told him the Duke of Hastings would have a “beginning, middle and end.”
Additionally, Rege-Jean Page said he thought the idea of a one-season arc was “interesting” because it felt like a limited series. Page therefore chose to join the cast, contribute to the show, and the Bridgerton the family history continues. He has also confirmed that the Duke and Daphne will not appear together in any scenes, but Daphne will support her brother Anthony in his search for a Viscountess.
