A dance school in Clacks has refused to let Covid-19 restrictions sabotage plans for its biennial dance show.
The show took place at the Alloa Ballet Company, which was scheduled to perform at the Macrobert Arts Center in Stirling in early March.
Although the show could not take place due to restrictions, dance school principal Heather Shrimpton was determined to put on a studio show in an effort to make her students shine.
Indeed, the young students were working hard, learning and rehearsing their routines online through Zoom between January and Easter.
Thankfully, the studio was cleared to reopen in late April with Heather and her team impressed with the progress on their version of The Nutcracker.
With a show date tentatively set in early June, fingers and toes have been crossed so it doesn’t get canceled.
Over the weekend of June 5-6, cameras were set up in the studio with a different dance class arriving every half hour for a final rehearsal and shoot.
Some proud and socially distanced parents were also in attendance with smiles all around.
Heather said: “It might not have been our usual show, but there was so much laughter and tears and pride from parents, students and teachers; he certainly had the buzz of the hour of the show.
“Our Alloa Ballet Company family of dancers is finally together again to do what they do best: dance!
She added: “Everyone was so put off by the theaters closing and the performances being canceled – we just weren’t able to do all of that.”
While the rehearsals on Zoom had their challenges, the sessions were a lifeline for many.
Heather said: “We started teaching it online which had its own issues because we had to try to reverse everything or fix everything in the studio when people maybe doing it backwards on Zoom. . ”
