The Springfield Youth Performance Group Foundation will hold auditions on Friday for its upcoming production, “The Nutcracker: Land of the Sweets.”

The story is an abridged retelling of “The Nutcracker” featuring dancers from the band’s Studio Company, prep company, and community.

Audition registration will be at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Sacred Heart Griffin Auditorium with auditions from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., according to the foundation.

A variety of roles for boys and girls aged 5-14 will be available. Auditions must arrive before the end of the 30-minute registration period and be accompanied by an adult.

Audition packages are available by emailing [email protected]

Girls auditioning should wear a leotard, tights and ballet flats with their hair in a bun, if possible. Boys auditioning must wear a T-shirt, athletic pants or shorts, and ballet or jazz shoes.

Rehearsals will take place on Saturdays starting September 24 at the Grant Conservatory of Music and Dance. There is a participation fee of $75 per artist.
