In addition to this new position, Altinoglu is currently Music Director of Theater Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels .
A graduate of the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris, he is now part of its management faculty.
Highlights of his 2021/2022 season include appearances at the Salzburger Festspiele alongside his debut with the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and the Czech Philharmonic. He will also continue his guest directing relationship with the Wiener Symphoniker and the Staatskapelle Berlin.
Altinoglu will bring his French influence to the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra – with planned performances by Edgar Moreau, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Renaud Capuçon, Claude Debussy, and more.
“After a period without an audience, there is a palpable sense of excitement for new beginnings and a great curiosity for their artistic journey together,†Orceshtra director Michael Traub said in a press release.
“Each member of the orchestra and the whole team are impatiently awaiting the arrival of Alain Altinoglu, and above all, to bring a multifaceted program with new musical directions to their audience in Frankfurt.
Altinoglu’s inaugural concert included Alban Berg Violin Concerto with Frank Peter Zimmerman and that of Hector Berlioz Fantastic symphony.
In addition, this season pianist VÃkingur Ólafsson will perform with the orchestra as a new artist in residence.
