The National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO), a charity that exists to help young jazz musicians, will honor Amy Winehouse – a former NYJO alum – at the Junction this Sunday, November 28.

Lucy-Anne Daniels and Olivia Murphy of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra

The young musicians, who will perform as part of the annual Cambridge Jazz Festival, will celebrate the legacy of the popular and much-missed singer with a seated performance at Junction’s J1.

Amy Winehouse’s unmistakable character, vocal dexterity and masterful writing have made her a pop icon. Today, 10 years after his tragic death, his music still shines. This concert series reinvents her hits and revisits some of the first works she sang with the 24-piece National Youth Jazz Orchestra as a promising 16-year-old in 2000.

Music director Winston Rollins worked on Amy’s Franc album, while arrangements were made by Birmingham-based composer Oliva Murphy. Vocal duties will be provided by Lucy-Anne Daniels.
