Mumbai: ST bus driver, driver returns Rs 1.9 L to passenger | Bombay News

Mumbai: The driver and driver of a public transport (ST) bus returned a bag containing Rs 1.92 lakh to a passenger who had left it in the vehicle. The passenger had boarded the Wakad bus and was on his way to Thane.
On the way, he had kept the bag near his seat, but forgot to take it with him on the way down. He panicked and contacted state bus authorities, who told him the driver and conductor noticed the bag and handed it over to the Thane ST office. The driver and driver were present when the money was handed over to the owner on Monday.
âThe driver, SB Madavi, and the conductor, Ganesh Darade, demonstrated presence of mind and honesty,â an official said. Drivers and chauffeurs had not received wages on time two months ago.
Following the suicide of a driver in Dhule, the government recently granted financial assistance to the MSRTC, as a result of which the workers received wages for July and August.
Shrirang Barge from Maharashtra ST Karmachari Congress said, âThe conductor is from our union. We will congratulate the two for their kind act. The ministry also plans to reward both and set an example for others.
In December 2020, a driver and driver returned his handbag, left on a bus, with Rs 60,000.
