Attempts by the Ukrainian delegation to juggle information during the last session of the contact group’s security subgroup are not conducive to reconciliation, said Alexey Nikonorov, negotiator for the self-declared Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). within the security subgroup of the contact group on resolving the situation in the Donbass.

“A significant part of the 178th session of the working group on security issues was wasted countering the manipulative rhetoric of the Ukrainian side,” Nikonorov was quoted as saying by the Donetsk news agency. “The situation in the task force gives the impression that the emissaries of the Kyiv government have created an alternate reality for themselves, in which they communicate with imaginary parties to the conflict and present imaginary information taken from alleged reports of the [Special Monitoring] Mission [of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe].”

“Once again we had to bring the Ukrainian negotiations back to reality, including providing a comparative analysis of the violations, committed by the parties in the opinion of the SMM,” the diplomat added.

According to him, the delegations of the self-proclaimed people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk (DPR and LPR) also had to refute Kiev’s false claims that Ukraine did not violate the agreements on the withdrawal of dangerous weapons.

“We quoted statistics from the OSCE SMM reports, which clearly show numerous violations committed by the Ukrainian army,” Nikonorov said.
