Krakatoa Resources Ltd identifies several conductors with VTEM surveys on the Mt Clere project
“It’s a great achievement for the company. It took almost 10 months to integrate the VTEMTM Max system into the project and the wait was worth it. We now have world class late conductive targets at a key structural intersection, close to the craton margins,” says the CEO.
Krakatoa Resources Ltd (ASX:KTA) has successfully completed a large general-purpose Time Domain Electromagnetic (VTEM™ Max) survey, defining 52 VTEM conductors of which 20 are strong and high priority targets.
These 20 discrete, late targets follow regional structural trends that are very promising for a system of mineralization similar to the Julimar discovery of nickel-copper-platinum (PGE) group elements by Chalice Mining Ltd (ASX:CHN, OTCQB:CGMLF).
“Trademarks for discoveries that define the company”
Mark Major, CEO of Krakatoa Resources, said: “This is a major achievement for the company. It took almost 10 months to get the VTEMMT System Max to the project and the wait was worth it.
“We now have world-class late conductive targets at a key structural intersection near the craton margins. All the characteristics of discoveries that define the company.
“We look forward to proving the priority targets with ground exploration activities followed by drilling as soon as possible.”
Processing of survey data defined localized focal groups of discrete priority targets positioned close together in a central area, and several discrete priority targets grouped together along extended structural lineaments (geomorphic features such as faults and linear valleys).
Some of the best EM responses in 30 years
“It is a privilege to be able to assist Krakatoa Resources with the interpretation of this data,” said geophysical consultant David McInnes.
“The study found several isolated late conductors that form discrete shapes, located next to large-scale magnetic lineaments.
“The data records some of the best EM responses representing potential basement drivers I’ve seen in my 30 years of reviewing AEM data.”
Next steps
Krakatoa says the results of the VTEM survey are very encouraging.
Moving loop electromagnetic (MLEM) and ground geochemical surveys will now aim to define conductive plates and surface geochemical outcrops for drill target selection.
The MLEM team should mobilize to the site as soon as possible and will initially focus on the strongest late drivers identified in the VTEM survey.
A drill program will be based on data generated from planned surveys designed to test preferred targets defined by MLEM and geochemical results.
Krakatoa is working to obtain all legal approvals to avoid drill test delays on several of the top-ranked target group areas.
