Kentucky Opera Holiday Celebration 2021: date, show details, tickets

The Kentucky Opera returns to the stage to showcase winter vignettes of operas and other holiday favorites.
The full costume performance will take place at the Brown Theater, 315 W. Broadway on December 16 at 7:30 pm and the evening will end with a carol featuring traditional Christmas carols.
“The evening will truly be a joyous celebration as Kentucky Opera will be live and in person with our loyal audience for a meaningful vacation experience,” said Barbara Lynne Jamison, General Manager and CEO of Kentucky Opera, in a press release.
The show will feature numerous “Christmas! Jesus is just born ”from“ Werther ”,“ To Two Cuartos! of “Carmen” and “What Power Art Thou” by “King Arthur”, as well as traditional holiday songs like “Carol of the Bells”, “Deck the Halls” and “O Tannenbaum” and the traditional Hebrew song “S” vivon ”.
The holiday finale will feature clips from “Good King Wenceslas”, “O Come, All Ye Faithful”, “Here We Come A-Wassailing”, “Jingle Bells”, “Walking in a Winter Wonderland” and more.

COVID-19 admission protocols are in place for all Kentucky Opera performances. Wearing a mask is compulsory for everyone from 2 years old. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative PCR test within the past 72 hours or a negative antigen test within the past 24 hours must be presented, along with government-issued ID or parental permission / tutor for children aged 5 and over.
The Kentucky Opera season 2021-22 also includes performances of “Orfeo”, “An America Dream” and “Robin Hood”.

“An American dream”
WHAT: “An American Dream” explores the lives of two families – a Japanese-American family and an American and his new German Jewish wife – and the home and possessions that weave all of their lives together. It takes place in the early 1940s after President Roosevelt signed Decree 9066.
