The Irish Baroque Orchestra, conducted by its artistic director, Peter Whelan, will be joined by soprano Nuria Rial and tenor Juan Sancho. The acclaimed Irish Baroque Orchestra is Ireland’s flagship period music ensemble and delivers historically informed performances to the highest standards. The Irish Baroque Orchestra and Artistic Director Peter Whelan recently received the Excellence in Opera Award for their work on Vivaldi’s Bajazet at the 2022 Olivier Awards, London.
Peter Whelan is one of the most exciting and versatile exponents of historical performance of his generation, with a distinguished career as a conductor, keyboardist and solo bassoon. He is Artistic Director of the Irish Baroque Orchestra and Founding Artistic Director of Ensemble Marsyas.
Under the artistic direction of Peter Whelan on the harpsichord, international performers; Nuria and Juan will sing arias and duets in an exciting Handel program called “Happy We!”. The show will be inspired by the great works of Handel, “Esther”, “Hercules” and “Acis & Galatea”. An evening of vocal fireworks and orchestral dynamism only Handel could write for awaits you at breathtaking Dromore Yard in County Aglish in Waterford.
