Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra Announces Winners of 2022 Young Performers Competition – Shaw Local

The Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra announced the winners of the 2022 Young Performers Competition held February 5 at La Salle-Peru High School.
Madison Vescogni, a junior from Lycée La Salle-Peru, won the senior division, with her flute, Quantz – Concerto en G major, mvt 1 performance. She is a student of Sue Gillio.
Emily Kmetz, a sophomore at La Salle-Peru High School was the finalist, with a voice performance, “When I’m Lying on Earth” by Purcell. Kmetz is a student of Jenilyn Roether.

Ava Rosengren, a freshman at Serena High School, was the winner of the junior division, with her flute, Faure’ Fantasie, op. 79, performance mvt 1. She is a student of Sue Gillio.

Gabby Mosley of Peru, a sophomore at La Salle High School-Peru, received honorable mention in the senior division, performing on Stamitz Flute – Concerto in G Major, OP. 29, mvt. She is a student of Sue Gillio.

Jadyne Leone, of Spring Valley and a sixth-grade student at Peru Catholic, received honorable mention in the junior division for vocals, performing Bach/Gounod Ave Maria. She is a student of Jenilyn Roether.

The winners in both categories will be the star soloists of the Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, March 13 at 3:00 p.m. in Matthiessen Auditorium at La Salle High School-Peru. Sponsors of the March 13 concert are Radio Ottawa Season Sponsors and Concert Sponsor Miller Group Charitable Trust.
Finalists and honorable mentions will be featured in an honors recital this month at Westclox Fine Arts Factory, 408 Fifth St.
