The Illinois Symphony Orchestra celebrates its 2022-2023 season.

The Illinois Symphony Orchestra (ISO) is delighted to partner with Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts and School of Music at Illinois State University. Beginning in late August, ISO will move its concert season to the Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall.

Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts Dean Jean Miller said, “The collaboration with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra is one that ISO Executive Director Trevor Orthmann and I have been discussing for years. We both understand the value of moving ISO to the Illinois State Center for the Performing Arts on campus to enrich and provide exceptional performance and opportunity for students, patrons, and the community. at large.

Dr. Adriana Ransom, Director of the School of Music, said: “Having ISO on campus will be energizing for the School of Music. Our students will have access to professional-level symphonic performances and exposure to standard and new repertoire. Students will be able to interact with the professional musicians of the symphony, as well as with internationally renowned guest artists and conductors.

Professor of Flute at Illinois State University and Principal Flute of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, Dr. Kimberly Risinger said, “I think ISU students will benefit from this partnership in many ways. More students will be attending ISO concerts since they have been on campus, and it will be wonderful for them to have this opportunity to enjoy, learn, and grow as musicians.

Illinois Symphony Orchestra Executive Director Trevor Orthmann said, “The Illinois Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to begin a new partnership with ISU’s Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts and School of Music as we strive to provide a solid foundation for the continued growth of outstanding orchestral performances and music education programs. Our partnership with ISU reinforces our mission as we inspire our community through these transformative live music experiences.

The Illinois Symphony Orchestra will perform a full season of live concerts at the Center for the Performing Arts at Illinois State University. To kick off the partnership, ISO will present a free Around the Town “Musical Chairs” concert with a string quartet at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at the Center for the Performing Arts. During the show, the public will have the opportunity to change seats between plays to discover the room and select seats for the upcoming season.
