Srinagar / Banihal: The driver of an oil tanker died as the driver was seriously injured after the vehicle plunged into a deep gorge in Dubjan along the Mughal road in Shopian district in southern Cashmere, Sunday afternoon.

In the incident, driver Neeraj Singh, son of Galdari Kumar died instantly and driver Bhod Raj, son of Mohan Chand was seriously injured. Both are believed to be residents of Doda District.

The injured driver was immediately taken to Shopian District Hospital from where he was referred to a hospital in Srinagar in critical condition.

Meanwhile, a 45-year-old man died as his niece was seriously injured after the car they were traveling in collided with a bus and fell into a deep gorge near the Maribudhi area in the district. of Doda Sunday, officials said.

Locals said the car (JK-02AK 5522) was on its way to Jammu from Doda when it collided with the bus coming from the opposite direction on the 110 km long Batote-Kishtwar highway before hurtling down the gorge. near the Chenab river.

Shortly after news of the accident, police and Al-Khair volunteers from Batote launched a rescue operation.

Police said Jagdish Raj, 45, son of Dittu Ram, a resident of Prem Nagar Doda, died at the scene while his niece, Priya, 23, was rescued in critical throat condition and was transferred to the emergency room. Hospital, Batote.
