The evening includes a flight of whiskeys, Greek liquors and South American spirits and an arts discussion with the artistic director and executive of the ballet

“Double Barrel” returns to Hiram for the fourth time this spring by popular demand, as a perk for Montgomery Ballet. The overnight event is hosted by Hiram Bar, located at 166 Commerce Street, Montgomery, on May 26, starting at 6 p.m.

The whiskey tasting experience offers customers the opportunity to taste many rare varieties and expand their typical alcohol experience and knowledge. While the guests enjoy their flight, Danny Mitsios, Executive Art Director of Montgomery, will share some thoughts on what’s currently happening with the arts in Montgomery. Join the conversation and get answers to your questions about what goes behind the scenes at your favorite local productions in an intimate setting.

Tickets are limited, but some are still available on montgomeryballet.org . Admission to the Double Barrel includes a taste of premium whiskey offered entirely by Mike Wattson, owner of the Hiram Whiskey Lounge, Beer Commerce Works, Alley Bar and Aviator. This admission to exclusive advantages makes “Double Barrel” an unmissable experience.

Later that week, the Montgomery Ballet School will give its final performance for the spring season on Friday, May 28, at 6 p.m. at the Waterfront Amphitheater in downtown Montgomery.

Tickets for this outdoor venue are free and unlimited. The recital includes excerpts from Cinderella with musical scores by Rodgers and Hammerstein, Sergei Prokofiev and Nikolai Volkov. The students trained very hard over the past year in person and virtually in ballet, variations, pointe and jazz in preparation for this final performance. Information on the school’s upcoming summer and fall offers can be found at montgomeryballet.org .

This “Double Barrel” event follows the Conservatory’s professional company staging and final season performances earlier in May. The dancers and students of the company have been training and rehearsing together safely since September for the 2020-2021 season. Meanwhile, hundreds of businesses across the country and around the world have had to cancel or digitize performances due to the COVID_19 pandemic. The Montgomery Ballet is very fortunate and grateful to be able to continue to serve our community with the art of performance and dancing together during this time. Each performance is all the more special knowing that it comes after months of quarantine and as a rare privilege now.
