Colorado Ballet to Perform Fan Favorite, “The Wizard of Oz”

DENVER, Colo. – Colorado Ballet will perform The Wizard of Oz at the Ellie Caulkins Opera in March.
The whirlwind adventure ballet returns to Denver with Septime Webre’s whimsical ballet. The Wizard of Oz will be performed for the first time since its sold-out world premiere in 2019 at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, located at 1385 Curtis Street.
The ballet will showcase innovation and collaboration in 21st century dance, featuring flying monkeys, swirling tornadoes and all of L. Frank Baum’s beloved characters. The show will also include iconic items such as Dorothy’s ruby red slippers from the book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum.
Commissioned by Colorado Ballet, Kansas City Ballet and Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the show will feature athletic choreography and a fusion of live music.
The Colorado Ballet is delighted to bring The Wizard of Oz back in Denver this season… It took two years of dedication, creativity and hard work, along with a lot of smarts, heart and grit, to bring The Wizard of Oz on stage in 2019 and, I have to say, it was worth it. After all, where else can you see the Yellow Brick Road breaking into dance, the witches flying across the stage on bubbles and bicycles, and the talented performers of the Colorado Ballet pirouetting, tossing and “spinning” their way to the emerald city? We are thrilled to share the return performances of this wonderful ballet with our Colorado community in March.
