The Duchess of Cornwall said she was “completely addicted” to ballet lessons as she visited the V&A to see an exhibition celebrating 100 years of the Royal Academy of Dance.

Camilla posed with her hand on a ballet barre and spoke of her dedication to Silver Swan workouts for over 55 years, which she used to keep in shape during lockdown.

She was joined by former Strictly Judge Dame Darcey Bussell, telling her, “Darcey! Haven’t seen you since we made that video call last year.

The Duchess said while chatting with some of the guests: “I can do a bit of bar work. I do the silver swans. I have it this afternoon.

She added: “I am completely addicted. I love it… We kind of crash into the spot.

But she said she didn’t have a bar to train on.

“We don’t have a bar either, so that makes it even more difficult,” said Camilla.

The Duchess, who wore a pale blue Indian-print silk dress by Fiona Clare and a dragonfly face mask, visited the On Point: Royal Academy of Dance at 100 exhibit.

She saw a costume Dame Darcey wore for her performance in 1989 as Rose in Prince Of The Pagodas.

Exhibits at the V&A Museum in London celebrate 100 years of RAD and tell how it shaped the future of dance education with videos of famous performances and costumes from its stars.

Dame Darcey and Camilla, who is RAD’s vice-patron, held a video call with broadcaster Angela Rippon last year, with the Duchess revealing how she and her friends benefited from the weekly classes at the Royal Academy of Dance Silver Swans for people around 18 months old.
