Bus driver wins chess tournament in Lagos
18-year-old bus driver Adeoye Fawaz won a tournament in the Oshodi region of Lagos state.
Naija News reports that the boy won the chess game and the mental arithmetic competition.
The teenager revealed that he wanted to become a comedian and musician but worked as a conductor to survive.
It was understood that the tournament was organized by the “Chess In Slums Initiativeâ€, an organization with the sole purpose of involving children and young adults who reside in the slums.
Meanwhile, the emir of Daura, Faruk Umar Faruk, reportedly paid a dowry of 1 million naira to marry a 20-year-old bride.
The 90-year-old emir married in a low-key ceremony to his wife, Aisha Iro Maikano, who is Fagacin Katsina’s daughter, Iro Maikano, on Saturday, December 12.
The Nigerian daily learned that the monarch had paid a sum of 1 million naira in dowry to the family of the bride.
Sources also revealed that the monarch has married no less than four women in the past 6 years.
The groom was represented by Magajin Garin Daura, Musa Umar, at the wedding fatiha.
Sources also alleged that the emir recently divorced his four wives and decided to choose a new ensemble. Read more
