Michael was a ballet prodigy with a brilliant career ahead of him. He turned into a Russian ballet teacher named Madame Olga as a way to both embrace himself as an artist and come to terms with the trauma of his past.
Directed and produced by Emily Schuman
When Michael’s ballet career didn’t go as planned, he finds refuge and release by taking on an alter ego: a Russian ballet teacher wearing a shiny turban named Madame Olga. Slipping into this mysterious character, Michael discovers a way both to embrace each other as an artist and come to terms with the pain of his past. Olga challenges authority and shatters the stereotype of a strict ballet teacher, taking her own life and generating an audience for her unconventional ballet lessons. Thanks to Olga, Michael is able to give aspiring dancers a place to thrive and perhaps the kind of mentor he has never had for himself. When i am her follows Michael’s life as he lives in Madame Olga who serves as a portal to help her students. But in the process, she finds the person she needs most to help.
