Star soprano Angel Blue, in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Sciences (NISS), announced a free webinar, “What’s Next for Opera,” on September 23, 2021.

The webinar will feature a high-level panel of industry leaders including mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves; countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo; James Robinson, former general manager of the Opera Theater St. Louis and director of “Porgy and Bess” and “Fire Shut Up in my Bones” at the Metropolitan Opera; and David Lomelí, artistic administrator of the Santa Fe Opera and casting director of the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Germany, creator of the Dallas Opera Network.

Opera America CEO Mark Scorca to host 90-minute webinar, covering the future of the art form, industry innovation, live performance safety and ‘to stream or not to stream’ , among other topics of discussion.

Blue, who is currently a director of NISS, said in a press release: “I immediately wanted to be a part of the National Institute of Social Sciences when I attended their annual Gold Medal Gala in 2019. The dedication of the organization to celebrating knowledge and improving our world through the study and discussion of societal issues is something that is very important to me. The pandemic has changed society. However, it is organizations like NISS that will be at the forefront of helping our community remain a strong unit. I am very honored to be a member of the National Institute Trustee and hope everyone enjoys the “What’s Next in Opera?” Webinar. “”
