While Kate Moss has stuck with ballet since the early 2000s, the rest of us, depending on our age, have seen this incredibly simple, yet iconic slip-on shoe slip in and out of popularity every decade.
And here we are again. For our youngest readers, welcome to the ballet. For the rest of us, it’s this time yet again.

Spring 2021 collections from Lanvin and Dior to Céline and Valentino featured versions of the flat ballet, and the trend is already spreading to more accessible stores and brands on our shores.
Whether it’s part of that reemerged desire for chic comfort and effortless ease that stems from the year we’ve all had, or just something that happens every 10 years or so, the barely present classic seems to be to return. in a big way.
